Great start.

Nah, I'm not waiting. It'll come when it comes. Whenever you're ready. No tapping of the foot here. When it happens, I'll be ready. You know what I mean? No pressure.

Besides, you already know it's there (you know you do), so let it flow and edit later (but you already know that, too).

Well... shoot... I had to use it sometime, right?

I'm with PITS. Your voice, my dear. Use your voice. Otherwise, I like it, and I'm waiting for more.

I'm sure there is a chapter 2. That was fun. What's the story about? Growing up stubbornly American in a place that refuses to let go of its heritage? Something like that? And you have to realize that even if you don't have a chapter 2, your own unique voice will make the story.

I mean, look at the paragraph about your name, before the chapter. Just my opinion, but I think a writer who wanted to incorporate this paragraph into a "serious" book could be easily tempted to rewrite it in a more literary-acceptable way, whatever that means. But the truth is that this paragraph is perfect as it is because your true voice comes out, and the story of your childhood is not just about facts and innocent observations, but also about the creation of your voice. Know what I mean?

What do I know? I'm not a writer. I do data-entry. Not much creativity in that.
