Lunchtime Conversation
Posted by danleone on August 27th, 2007 filed in funnyThis is a true conversation I had with someone I work with. The weather in Boston is glorious with low humidity and lots of sun. Spectacular day. I was sitting outside with our usual lunch group and this is a paraphrase of what I heard:
Me: What a beautiful day! It is a good day to leave early.
She: Yeah, but I am pissed (that might be a Boston term. It means angry)
Me: Why?
She: Because I am going to be stuck inside.
Me: Oh….you need to work late?
She: No, I am leaving here to go to a double spa appointment.
OK…perhaps this dialog missed its mark. Perhaps you simply needed to be there. BUT, if you are going to complain about being indoors, don’t complain that it is because you have a DOUBLE SPA APPOINTMENT! By the way, WHAT THE EFF IS A DOUBLE SPA APPOINTMENT.
Question for BoMR (Both of My Readers): What is the weather like where you are?
Have you ever had a double spa appt?

Hmmmm.. I’ve never had any spa appointment, but I’ll take a stab at it. It’s either two back to back appointments, two people in one spa or one person hopping from one tub to another.. maybe..?

The weather is a balmy 67 with no humidity today. That’s why I live here. I have actually had a triple spa appointment. Massage, facial and nails done. Of course this happens every six years when the moon is full and I have cash falling out of my ^%&*!

maybe you have a spa for each foot?
The weather here was nice too. And it was a national holiday so everyone was off work. Ok, everyone but me. Sometimes I dislike shift work.

Sweetheart and I had “Couples Massage” on our first date. (We had been friends for years.)
The weather here is 90ish and scattered showers.
One should never bitch about anything that has to do with a spa. At least that is my humble opinion.

“Pissed” is very common in my neck of the woods. I started using it in high school because it pissed off my mom. My best friend and I made variations, one of which I still use on occassion just for giggles – “Makes me even pisseder!” I try to refrain from using it now, because it’s not so cute or funny coming out of my kids’ mouths.
I can tell you nothing about double spa appointments, but if you are looking for commentary on slang terminology, I’m your girl!
