How Hubble Killed God…
Though I do not agree with the conclusion that the stunning image taken by Hubble kills the argument for god, I do love the article. The image and the article does seem to put a hole in the “6000 year old universe” argument but I do not know how many Christians take the bible that literally. I am also not so sure about combining the Christian god and the Muslim god in drawing his conclusion. I have no idea if Muslims claim that the universe is only 6000 years old. Ultimately, I don’t care because god doesn’t exist. The rest is just trivialities.

    Creationists believe that the world was created in seven 24-hour days 6000 years ago, but many other Christians believe that the Earth was created but not in 24-hour days, and that the creation account in the Bible refers to Earth, not the universe. Non-Creationist Christians do believe in creationism, but not the fundamentalist take on it that Creationists have.

    Incidentally, I’d be really interested to hear more about why you don’t believe in God. I’m new to your blog, so I’m not sure if you’ve addressed this elsewhere, but I’d love to hear more about it.

    I’d love to show this to my girlfriend’s bible-thumping mother, but I know she’d just try to come back with the same brainwashed, unsupported psycho-babble she always does.

    It really takes all the fun out of it ;)

    I think Plato already “killed” God a long time ago. It’s just been ignorance and denial ever since.

    I think a lot of “Christians” really do take that junk seriously. They’re often just too ashamed to admit it because they have nothing to base their nonsensical beliefs upon except faith. It’s the worst form of self-delusion.

    I thought “Lucy” and every other archaeological discovery killed the whole 6000 year old universe theory. Where have I been?
